SYLLABUS

The Course develops the skills that the students have already acquired through their strict practise in academic drawing and colour, in such way that they learn to indicate all the values of colour and drawing in a short time, with qualities of abstraction and simplification.

With continuous practice, the students gradually develop the ability to create sketches where, the sense of colour, the shapes and objects, their movement in space, space and its dimensions, have been depicted with speed. At the same time they develop their own style of sketching.

Furthermore, the students maintain a sketchbook in their own space, as a diary of the visual creative process. There, they feed in material from their research about a specific period of the history of art,  during which a plethora of excellent sketches is recorded, as an important part in the practice of visual artists.

They select and deconstruct a number of sketches by these artists.

The students also choose a subject from a series of themes given to them and sketch from nature in their personal space, this subject in its variations throughout the semester. These sketches are monitored every week by the teacher, who, observes, corrects, encourages.

Thus, the students are introduced to a broad spectrum of ways to sketch and cultivate their sensitivity.
